NEW process development - FormPreg and preform infusion, ready to roll out!
BAMD have teamed up again with SHAPE Machining (Witney, UK) to use an innovative preform manufacturing method known as ShapeTex. Predominantly used to produce reinforced thermoplastic parts using a heated press process, the manufacturing method has been applied successfully to produce more traditional lower volume thermoset composite products.
The joint collaboration has resulted in significantly reduced fibre waste and increased component performance through weight and overall cost reduction. Our team of technicians have been trialling and developing the marriage of SHAPE’s optimised fibre preforms with epoxy and polyester resin systems, with fantastic results as shown below.
